As this event is part of the university festival, there are some precautions that differ from typical cosplay events.
Please carefully review the precautions outlined in this guideline before attending the event.
A cosplay registration fee is required for participating in cosplay at this event.
The registration fee is 1000 yen for a one-day pass and 1500 yen for a two-day pass.
Upon registration, you will receive a rubber band and a Layer PASS with your registration number, so please keep it with you throughout the event.
Please note that if it is lost, you will need to go through the registration process again.

- Regarding attendance and departure
Entering or leaving the venue in cosplay attire is prohibited.
Please make sure to use the dressing room provided.
There is no parking available for attendees at Hokudaisai or Kougakusai.
Please use public transportation when attending.
- Registration
Once you arrive at the venue, please register for cosplay at the reception located in front of the dressing rooms in the building of faculty of engineering.
During registration, please fill out the necessary information on the registration form and hand 1000 yen or 1500 yen to the staff. We will exchange it for a wristband and Layer PASS.
You can also fill out the registration form on-site, but printing and filling it out in advance on an A4 sheet will expedite the registration process.

During the event, staff may check for wristbands and Layer PASS, so please wear them at all times or have them readily available for inspection.
Parents or caregivers who are not participating in cosplay can enter the dressing rooms only if they are of the same gender. Please inform us at the reception.
- For children under elementary school age
There is no cosplay registration fee for children under elementary school age.
However, if parents or caregivers are also cosplaying, they must register.
Please note that participation by children under elementary school age alone is not allowed.
Please accompany them with a parent or caregiver.
- Dressing rooms
Both male and female dressing rooms are available. On the day of the event, there will be signs directing you to the dressing rooms from the main entrance of the building of faculty of engineering.
(As of May 25, we are planning to use the Academic Lounge on the 2nd floor of Building A.)
The available hours for the dressing rooms are:
June 8th (Sat) 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
June 9th (Sun) 9:00 am to 4:30 pm
They cannot be used outside of these hours.
The Dumpa event hours are:
June 8th (Sat) 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
June 9th (Sun) 11:30 am to 3:30 pm
Please be mindful of the time after the Dumpa event ends.
Please refrain from changing outside of the dressing rooms. In particular, dressing in the restroom is strictly prohibited.
When entering the dressing rooms, wristbands/Layer PASS will be checked.
Eating and drinking are not allowed in the dressing rooms.
Makeup is allowed in the dressing rooms, but please be sure not to dirty the area.
If the rooms are damaged, cleaning and repair costs will be charged.
Cutting wigs and using sprays in the dressing rooms or toilets are prohibited.
Due to the anticipated high usage of the dressing rooms, they may be crowded. Please be considerate when using them.
Please refrain from meeting or taking breaks in the dressing rooms.
Photography is strictly prohibited in the dressing rooms under any circumstances.
If you notice any suspicious behavior or individuals, please inform the nearest Kougakusai staff member to prevent unauthorized photography.
You may place suitcases and other luggage in the dressing rooms, but the committee cannot be held responsible for any theft or other issues. Please manage your wallets, mobile phones, and other valuables at your own risk.
- Cosplay
Cosplay is allowed in all genres (cross-dressing is also allowed), but the following costumes and props are prohibited:

Costumes that obstruct the passage of other customers, such as wide wings.

Established uniforms such as police officers, self-defense forces, firefighters, security guards, etc. (Items that are clearly distinguishable from current uniforms are acceptable.)

Military uniforms that have existed or existed in the past.

Costumes that are too revealing or see-through, causing discomfort to other customers.

Decorations or costumes with long spikes or sharp parts that may injure others.

Something that may dirty the venue or dressing rooms, such as sprays, paints, or wet blood.

Something that may damage the venue or public facilities, such as spiked or metal-soled boots.
-
Costumes and props that may invite political or religious conflicts (e.g., national flags).

Any other items deemed inappropriate by the organizers.
- Weapons and long objects
Please handle weapons and long objects carefully to avoid disturbing other visitors.
The length should be limited to about 1 meter.
When moving or dancing, please carry them in a case, and unsheathing is only permitted for photography in designated areas away from the dance area under the stairs.
At this time, please be cautious of your surroundings and refrain from swinging, throwing, etc.
Materials that may injure people are not allowed, and the weapons should be obviously non-lethal.
The following items, which may pose a risk of contact injury, are not allowed:
- Heavy wood or metal materials
- Sharp or pointed tips
- Areas where cosplay is allowed
You can tour Hokudaisai in cosplay.
The areas where you can move around are limited to the areas where the Hokudaisai is held within Hokkaido University.
Please refrain from leaving Hokkaido University or moving to areas of Hokkaido University where the festival is not taking place (e.g., the farm).
As food and beverages are sold at food stalls, please be careful not to dirty your costume in crowded areas.
On June 8th (Sat) from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, access to the square in front of the main entrance of the building of faculty of engineering will be restricted due to another event. Please be aware of this in advance.
- Photography
When taking photos, please be mindful not to obstruct traffic or cause inconvenience to other participants.
Especially on the day of the event, Main Street (the prominent street on campus) is expected to be crowded. Please refrain from lingering for photography in this area.
Unauthorized photography that may cause inconvenience to cosplayers or involve voyeurism is strictly prohibited. If such behavior is discovered, please report it to the Kougakusai staff.
During the Dumpa event, video recording is allowed, but only to the extent that it can be posted on social media such as X (1-2 minutes). Continuous recording of the entire event is not allowed.
If you intend to post photos or videos on social media, please be sure to obtain consent from the subject to prevent any issues.
Kougakusai staff and Hokudaisai Festival staff may take photos and videos for publicity purposes. Please understand this in advance.
It is expected that general participants unfamiliar with the event may request photography. As this event is considered a tradition of the university festival, we kindly ask for your cooperation in accepting such requests.
- About Hokudai Dumpa
The event hours are:
June 8th (Sat) 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
June 9th (Sun) 11:30 am to 3:30 pm
Performances by general participants on the stairs in front of the main entrance of the building of faculty of engineering are prohibited for safety reasons.
When performing dances or other performances, please do so on flat ground or in designated areas.
If dangerous acts such as entering the stairs without permission occur during the Dumpa event, there is a possibility that the event cannot be held in the future.
Please strictly adhere to the rules.
During Dumpa, please refrain from viewing from the lawn or slopes.
- Other precautions
During the Hokudaisai, drinking alcohol and smoking are strictly prohibited on campus. Please refrain from drinking alcohol or smoking on campus.
If you are found to be carrying or using tobacco or alcohol, Hokudaisai staff may approach you.
